We recommend naturally fibred clothing as they are more fire retardant than synthetic plastic based clothing. You will work with fires and very hot steel so sensible clothing is necessary. For shoes, steel toed boots are the ideal, but walking boots and trainers are acceptable. No open toed shoes or flip flops.
-
We provide free tea and coffee for everyone on site. As for food we are teamed up with our local cafe and our customers will receive a 10% discount on any purchases at the cafe. you can view their menu here.
We also welcome anyone who would like to bring their own packed lunch with them. -
We have a range of courses available from complete beginner taster sessions like our 4 hour “have a go”, to specific item courses such as our “knife”, “Damascus knife” and “axe” courses, to more comprehensive educational courses like our “intro to blacksmithing” course which delves much deeper into the world of blacksmithing.
The choice then is up to you, would you like to dip your toe in, make something specific, or see how deep the blacksmithing rabbit hole goes?

No, please don’t bring your pets to the forge. The workshop is not a suitable environment for pets and we really don’t agree with people keeping dogs locked in a hot car in the sun for the kinds of duration of our courses. Please note; this does not just include dogs, this goes for all pets including but not limited to: Cats, Rabbits, Rats, Parrots, Lizards and Tortoises.
-
No! All of our courses cater for complete novices. However if you do have prior experience we can tailor the courses to your experience level.

All of our courses are 13+ as standard, however if a course is to be attended by anyone under the age of 16 we do require a parent or other responsible adult to accompany them for the duration of the course.

We are ever-growing, so over time this number will increase. However currently our maximum capacity is 8 students at any one time.

You’re more than welcome to stick around, watch, and give moral support to your partner in the forge and take advantage of free tea and coffee, or you can leave them in our safe hands and come and collect them later. Consider us an adult day-care service if you like.
